Hamwic hosts its annual outdoors meeting

The 13th August saw our usual club meeting take place outside of Taunton’s College – around the ancient walls of the city of Southampton!

Hamwic members were treated to speeches from Robyn, Xan, Rob and Joanna, at various locations  across the old city. Each speech had a link to the area with Robyn even telling us of her own relatives who left these shores in 1620 aboard the Mayflower, before eventually settling in Canada. A Hamwic first, as her speech completed a story that began centuries ago!

As the light began to fade, a table topics session took place opposite Tudor House Museum, before our thirsty members and guests did as many have done throughout the history of Southampton and headed to the nearest tavern for some refreshment!

A big thank you to every one that turned out to support our outdoor meeting. We look forward to the next one!

Our usual club meetings begin again at Taunton’s College in September.
