Committee

Hamwic Speakers is run by a committee of volunteers, with the aim to provide a supportive learning atmosphere to empower members with personal development of leadership and communication skills.

The Toastmasters’ committee year runs from 1 July – 30 June, and about two months before the end of the year the committee they start to encourage members to consider becoming a committee member, where elections then take place at the Annual General Meeting in May.

Getting involved with the committee is a great way to:

  • Further develop your leadership and communication skills with opportunities to work on public speaking, organisation, and teamwork
  • Share your ideas and make a difference
  • Meet new people and become more involved with club
  • Learn more about Toastmasters and how it works
  • Challenge yourself – step outside of your comfort zone, try something new and discover skills you may not have realised you had

You don’t need to be an experienced leader or a long served member to join the committee. It’s an opportunity to learn by doing with support from fellow committee members and the wider Toastmasters community.
